How to get to Sichuan?

There are usually three ways to get to Sichuan.

  1. Tourists can take international flights directly to Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan. Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport(CTU) and Tianfu International Airport(TFU) have opened many international flights. Tourists can also take domestic flights to Chengdu via Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Hongkong and other cities.
  2. Tourists can take trains from the main cities in China to Sichuan, including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Xi'an, Guilin, etc. Yet it takes a long time, you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of Sichuan on the train.
  3. Tourists can take a car from various provinces and cities in China to Sichuan. Although the journey is long, you can stop along the way to enjoy the beautiful scenery, have the opportunity to see different scenery, and experience different cultures and customs.

What about the food in Sichuan?

What’s the weather and climate like in Sichuan?

Sichuan basin is in the southwest of China. The Yunnan Plateau surrounds it to the south, the Tibetan Plateau to the west, and the Yangtze River to the east. In this basin area, you can hardly saw the sunshine since it's cloudy and foggy almost all year round. The weather and climate here are humid and mild.

How to get to Jiuzhaigou from Chengdu?

Usually, there are four ways to get from Chengdu to Jiuzhaigou.

  1. Take a flight from Chengdu Tianfu International Airport to Huanglong Airport, which takes about 1 hour. After arriving at the airport, you can take a bus to Jiuzhaigou Scenic Area, or take a taxi, which takes about 1.5 hours.
  2. Take a high-speed train from Chengdu East Station to Huanglongjiuzhai Railway Station, which takes about 1 hour and 40 minutes. After arriving at Huanglongjiuzhai Railway Station, you can choose a direct bus or a commercial vehicle to the Jiuzhaigou Scenic Area, which takes about 2 hours.
  3. Take a bus from Chengdu Xinnanmen/Chadianzi/Chengdu East Bus Station to Jiuzhaigou Scenic Area, which takes about 8 hours. You can book the bus tickets via trip.com.
  4. Contact a travel agency to charter a car from Chengdu to Jiuzhaigou Scenic Area, which takes about 7 hours.

How to get to Leshan / Mt.Emei from Chengdu?

1. By high-speed train: there are nearly 40 high-speed trains pass through Leshan Railway Station from Chengdu East Railway Station(South Railway Station) every day, with a second-class seat fee of about RMB 54 yuan, and the whole journey takes about 50 minutes to 1 hour. Chengdu East Railway Station (South Railway Station) also has many high-speed trains passing through Emeishan Railway Station every day, the second-class ticket price is about 65 RMB, and the whole journey takes about 1.5 hours.

This way of traveling is fast and convenient, which is the best choice for guests.

2. By tourist vehicle: departing from Chengdu, drive along the highway and get off the highway at Leshan. The whole journey is 146km, and the driving time is about 2 hours. From Chengdu, there is also a highway to Mt.Emei, the whole journey is 144km, and the driving time is about 2 hours.

This is a more comfortable way, but the cost of a private vehicle is relatively high. If there are several people, you can choose this way of traveling.

3. By long-distance bus: There are buses from Chengdu Shiyang Bus Station, Xinnanmen Bus Station, Cha Dianzi Bus Station, Huayang Bus Center, etc. The fare is about RMB 50-70, and the driving time is about 2.5 hours. There are direct coaches to Mt.Emei from Chengdu Xinnanmen Bus Station and Beimen Bus Station, etc. The fare is about 60-80 RMB, and the ride takes about 2.5 hours.

Alternatively, you can take a high-speed train or bus between Leshan and Mt. Emei. You can take a high-speed train from Leshan Railway Station to Emeishan Railway Station, or take a bus from Leshan Central Bus Station or Leshan Xiaoba Bus Station to Mt.Emei Bus Station. There are also direct buses from Leshan Giant Buddha Scenic Area to Mt. Emei Scenic Area, running from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm and 13:30 pm to 17:30 pm every day.

How to get to Daocheng Yading from Chengdu?

1. Fly to Daocheng Yading:

There are direct flights to Daocheng Yading from Chengdu Tianfu Airport and Shuangliu Airport, the whole journey takes about 50-75 minutes. Upon arrival, as there is no direct bus from the airport to the scenic spot, there are two routes to choose from: staying in Daocheng County or Shangri-La Town for one night to adapt to the high altitude.

(1) Airport bus to Daocheng County, about 30 yuan per person. However, there is still a distance of about 80km from Daocheng Yading, so you can stay in Daocheng County for one night, and then go to Daocheng Yading for about 1-2 hours the next day.

(2) Airport bus to Shangri-La town, about 3 hours away, 80 RMB/person. Stay one night in Shangri-La town, it is very convenient to get to the scenic spot from here in the morning, which is the most recommended landing point.

2. Bus to Daocheng Yading: buses depart from Chengdu Xinnanmen Bus Station at about 6:00 a.m. and go directly to Daocheng County Bus Station. The whole journey takes about 15 hours, and you will arrive in Daocheng County at night.

3. Charter a tourist vehicle to Daocheng Yading: depart from Chengdu and follow the G318 National Highway to Daocheng Yading, the journey takes about 15 hours.
