Daily Itinerary
CollapseOur staff will greet you at Lhasa Airport/Railway to transfer you to the hotel. From Lhasa Airport to downtown Lhasa, it usually takes about 1 hour; from Lhasa Railway Station, about 20 minutes. After being transferred to the hotel, you will be free to wander around the city on your own but try not to overtax yourself for the rest of the day. The first day's well-rest is crucial to acclimatize to the high altitude. Remember to drink lots of water, eat light, and not have a shower if you can help it.
Stay overnight in Lhasa
After breakfast in the hotel, the tour guide will take you to Drepung Monastery, the biggest Tibetan monastery that housed more than 10,000 monks in the past. Drepung means Rice Heap in the Tibetan language. The entire monastery is large in scale and the white buildings cluster and cover the hillsides. It's the highest-ranking monastery in the Gelug Sect.
In the afternoon you will first visit the Tibet Museum. Here you can see life scenes, exquisite clothing, house architecture, and festival customs, etc. to explore the special and mysterious Tibetan customs. Then you will visit Norbulingka, which is a typical Tibetan-style royal garden, the summer resort of the Dalai Lama.

Typically Asked Questions from Our Clients
Asked by Luca***
Hello, I am interested in the 7 Days Lhasa Mt. Everest Kathmandu Overland Group Tour. Is it already too late for end of January, beginning of February ? Thank you.
Dear Lucas***,
We can arrange the Lhasa Mt. Everest Kathmandu Overland Group Tour for you. The end of January and the beginning of February are considered the off-peak season for Tibet, so it’s a great time to travel with fewer tourists. Up to now, we have group departures on the 19th and 31st of January, but it needs further confirmation.
Asked by Rene***
I am interested in two of your tours and I can't decide between them. Both tours would be for September 2025. One is the Lhasa-EBC-Kathmandu. Can you tell me what the accommodation is like at EBC? The other trip is the Lhasa-Yamdrotso Lake trip.
Dear Ren****,
We can arrange the Lhasa Mt. Everest Kathmandu Overland Group Tour & Lhasa & Yamdrotso Lake Group Tour for you in September 2025. If you plan to go to Kathmandu, Nepal, I suggest you join the Lhasa Mt.Everest Kathmandu Tour, you can visit more attractions and save the flight fee. Up to now, we don't have a confirmed group departure date in September, I can open a group departure date per your request, and then we will recruit other travelers to join it.
Asked by Mr. ***
Dear Sirs and Madams,
I am interested in a tour from Lhasa to Kathmandu starting in late April or early May 2025.
As I am over 55 years old, I am concerned about the altitude and need to ask a few questions.
Is it possible to stay at an altitude below 4000m and still enjoy the views of the Himalayan mountains and especially Mount Everest? It seems that one has to go to the EBC as the journey continues from there?
Or are there alternative tours?
Would it be helpful to bring my own oxygen cylinders to feel better overall and also avoid any more severe effects on health?
Would you book a train ticket from Xining to Lhasa as this seems to be quite difficult?
Dear Mr. Wolf****,
I'll answer your questions one by one.
1. For 7 days Lhasa Mt. Everest Kathmandu Overland Group Tour, we have a departure date of 24 April 2025. Is the date available for you?
2. On the way to EBC, there are some places below 4000m where you can see the Himalayan mountains and Mount Everest. EBC is the best place to view Mount Everest. If you worry about the high altitude at EBC, we can arrange an oxygen supply room at Rongbuk Hotel, which can reduce the risk of high altitude sickness. To have a better view of Mount Everest, the journey to EBC is the only option.
3. It's helpful to bring oxygen cylinders. We'll arrange oxygen for emergency use in the vehicle, too.
4. We can help you book a soft-sleeper train ticket from Xining to Lhasa.
Asked by Ke***
Good afternoon!
Me and my wive would really like to visit Tibet in March. I read somewhere that there is a chance Tibet is closed in March. Do you know anything about that?
Also: China just loosened Visa restrictions for travellers from my country (The Netherlands) to 30-days Visa free. Only you have to prove that you are going to leave the country. Usually you would be doing this by presenting an airline ticket, but since we'll be leaving overland that's not possible. Do you know how to fix this?
Dear Kees****,
We can arrange the Lhasa Mt. Everest Kathmandu Overland Group Tour for you. I will answer your questions one by one.
1. Yes, Tibet will be closed to foreign travelers in March. Could you consider visiting Tibet in April?
2. Yes, travelers from the Netherlands can enjoy the 30 day China-Visa-free policy now. So you can enter China just with your passport, don't need to apply for a China Visa. While if you plan to visit Tibet, we can obtain your Tibet Travel Permit with your passport.
Asked by Simo***
Dear Sir or Madam,
Me and my girlfriend are currently traveling through Asia. We are in China and want to travel across Tibet and Nepal to reach India. We are looking to book a Lhase to Kathmandu tour and I am thus contacting your company. I have a few questions about the state of Nepal after the landslides and the tours your company offers.
As I have read, the roads from Gyirong to Kathmandu are open again. Can you confirm this? Will it be possible to find a Jeep to go to Kathmandu at the border crossing? Also, do you happen to know whether the roads from Kathmandu towards India are open as well?
We are planning on doing the tour around the end of November. Would it still be possible to book the tour around that time? (For example the one scheduled on November 25) If yes, when would be the latest date booking this tour is possible?
Finally, I wanted to ask about the possibility of booking a private, shorter route with your company. We have limited time in Asia and so it would fit us best to do a shorter, more direct route from Lhasa to Kathmandu, maybe in 3-4 days, depending on what is feasible. For instance, would it be possible to cut the visit in Lhasa and to Mount Everest base camp to allow for a shorter travel time? And if it is possible, how much would such a tour cost? We are two people and are flexible when it comes to hotel comfort.
Thank you very much for your help,
Best regards
Dear Simo****,
We can arrange the Lhasa Kathmandu Overland Tour at the end of November. I will answer your questions one by one.
1. Yes, the road from Gyirong Border to Kathmandu and Kathmandu to India are open now. We can arrange a jeep to take you to Kathmandu.
2. Yes, we can arrange the Lhasa Kathmandu Overland Private Tour for you around 25 Nov. You'd better book the tour before 15 Nov, because we need time to apply for your Tibet Travel Permit and post it to you. Since travelers from France can enjoy the 15-day China-visa-free policy, what we need is copies of your passports.
3. Yes, we can shorten the itinerary. However, I suggest you stay in Lhasa for at least 2 nights to acclimatize, or there's a high possibility of altitude sickness.
