Daily Itinerary
CollapseThis is the first day in Tibet. Your guide will greet you at Lhasa Gonggar Airport/Railway Station and transfer you to your hotel. It usually takes around 1 hour to drive from Lhasa Airport to downtown Lhasa and takes about 20 minutes from Lhasa Railway Station. Tourists could have a look at the Yarlung Tsangpo River, the largest and longest river in Tibet on their way to the hotel. After check-in, you can have a good rest first. And if you feel like going out, you can wander around the city. But just remember that don't take too much stuff, try to go with a light pack. Meanwhile, drink some more water, and do not move strenuously. It’s really useful to get acclimatized to the high altitude.

In the morning our guide will meet you at the hotel and first take you to visit the famous Potala Palace, the cardinal landmark of Tibet and the masterpiece of Tibetan architecture. It was first built by the 33rd King - Songtsen Gangpo in the 7th century and rebuilt later by the 5th Dalai Lama in the 17th century. Now it's a museum and world heritage site.
In the afternoon, we will go to visit Jokhang Temple in the center of the Lhasa old town. Jokhang Temple is the most sacred temple in Tibet and it is always bustling with earnest local pilgrims since the early days. After that, you will take a walk around the Barkhor Street - one of the most devotional circuits as well as a crowded central market of Lhasa. Barkhor Street is a very ancient round street surrounding the Jokhang Temple and the locals are always proud of it. As a symbol of Lhasa, it‘s also a must-see place for visitors.

Dadong Village is one of the most complete ancient Tibetan villages in Tibet. It is said that even Guru Rinpoche admired the beautiful scenery here. Dadong Village has beautiful natural scenery, a long history, a rich culture, and simple Tibetan folk customs, attracting lots of tourists to enjoy the pleasant pastoral scenery, Tibetan rural life, and local traditional culture.
In the afternoon, you will pay a visit to Sera Monastery, which is one of the "great three" Gelug monasteries of Tibet. Monks debate from 3 pm to 5 pm. If the debate is not your type, you can also enjoy the three sand Mandalas and colorful rock paintings of Buddha. The sight here is splendid because you can see wild roses around. That's why people also call it "the Court of Wild Rose."

In the morning, we will visit Norbulingka, which is a typical Tibetan-style royal garden, the summer resort of the Dalai Lama. There are a lot of towering trees, exotic flowers and plants in the garden, as well as many collections of cultural relics, Buddha statues, pagodas, thangkas, murals, etc. They are all very precious treasures.
In the afternoon, you are heading to Drepung Monastery, which means Monastery of Rice Heap in the Tibetan language. The entire monastery is large in scale and the white buildings cluster and cover the hillsides. Drepung monastery is the largest Tibetan Buddhist monastery, also the highest-ranking monastery in the Gelug Sect.

Typically Asked Questions from Our Clients
Asked by Robe***
Would like information on the possibility of more independent travel. I understand that getting approval for traveling to Tibet requires a form and processing by tour company. If required, we would choose the four day tour with your company, but extend for at least one extra day. We prefer separate rooms, and could do our own hotel arrangements preferably. Typically we never travel escorted so this is new, and want an opportunity to go as solo as possible. Booking our own hotel (one of us prefers 5 star) strongly preferred.
Dear Robert***,
We can arrange a 5-day Lhasa Private Tour for you in October. You can book the hotel by yourself. We can obtain the Tibet Travel Permit for you.
Asked by Nach***
We are planning to travel to Tibet in March and we would like to know more about booking a tour with you, the possible itineraries, and budgets. We are 2 people, and we could go on a private tour or in a group.
We plan to take the train from Xining on Friday, March 8, at 9:00 PM and arrive in Lhasa at 5:40 PM on Saturday, March 9. Once in Lhasa, we would like to visit the city and its surroundings and take a flight to Linjiang on Tuesday or Wednesday at 12:15 PM. Thus, I wanted to ask about possible itineraries:
A) Saturday, March 9, to Tuesday, March 12 (4 days, 3 nights)
B) Saturday, March 9, to Wednesday, March 13 (5 days, 4 nights)
On the other hand, we would also like to know if you usually facilitate the reservation of the train from Xining to Lhasa.
Thank you very much.
Dear Nach****,
We can arrange your 4/5 days private tour in Tibet, as well as your Xining to Lhasa train tickets. Here are the recommended itineraries for you. If you agree, I will quote you.

Hi, Looking to do a short 5 day tour around Tibet (Lhasa). Besides cultural must-sees like Potala Palace, Barkhor Street, Jokhang Temple, we are also keen to explore and view scenery like Lake Namtso, Lake Yamdrok, Lulang Ninghai forest. Looking forward to hear from you. Thank you!
Dear Pris****,
We can arrange your 5-day trip in and around Lhasa city.
For Lulang Ninghai forest, since it's in Nyingchi and it takes 2 days to come and get back. Considering the 5 days, excluding one arrival and one departing day, there are only 3 days for sightseeing. And for Lake Namtso and Lake Yamdrok, both belong to the top three holy lakes of Tibet but they are in opposite directions so you may just choose one. Please note, that in December, both lakes might freeze and the road might get blocked by snow. I suggest we set Namtso as the first choice. If it's not applicable, we may go to Yamdrok instead.

will take train from chengdu to lhasa on 1 st may 2019 (21.37 pm )
4-5 days to tibet
will go to khatmandu via lhasa.what type of vehicle we should take to kathmandu
please suggest and tell me about tibet permit
Due to Tibet's unique background, apart from a Passport and a Chinese Visa, all foreign tourists allowed to enter Tibet must have Tibet Permits. We could surely get your Tibet permit including other necessary permits after you book the tour with us, we need your passport and China visa copies to apply for it from Tibet Travel Bureau before tour starts and usually get it for you after 12 working days. If you take a train from Chengdu to Lhasa, I will send you the copy of permit to you by email so that you can board the train to Lhasa.
In your inquiry, you mentioned you will go to kathmandu from lhasa by car, right? We will arrange a 7 seat car for you to kathmandu from Lhasa. How about having our 7 days Lhasa Mt. Everest Kathmandu Overland Private Tour in May?
