Tibet Winter Tour

Many people consider that Tibet is covered by ice and snow all year round. And winter is not a good season to visit. However, according to experienced travelers, the average temperature of Tibet in winter is -2℃ ~ 14℃ and it can be even higher in the daytime because of intensive sunlight. Winter is also a good season to tour Tibet, especially traveling in Lhasa, Shigatse, Lokha, and Nyingchi areas.

The average altitude of the above areas is around 3,600 meters and may cause slight altitude sickness. Taking some anti-anoxic medicines like Hongjingtian and Gaoyuanan is enough for the first few days after arriving at those places.

Other things that are necessary for travelers who visit Tibet during the winter holiday are sunglasses, caps and sunscreen creams for preventing overexposure to intense sunshine and snow blindness. Last but not least, take some painkillers like paracetamol or aspirin, which can help with frostbite as well as aches and colds.
