How do China expats get a Tibet Travel Permit?

Tibet has reopened to China ex-pats living in mainland China and officially issued Tibet Travel Permits from July. Now you can contact us and prepare following documents for your Tibet Travel Permit.

  • Colorful scans of your passport and China residence visa;
  • Screenshot of your Green Health Code and Green Arrow Code;
  • Work certification from your company with a confirmation of your stay in China for 90 days(with a red stamp);
  • Negative nucleic acid reports within 7 days.

Knowing what you expect to see or do in Tibet will help determine how long you should stay. We recommend at least 4 days for visiting the essential attractions of Lhasa . If you are interested in experiencing more out of Lhasa, like holy lakes, glaciers, majesty Mt. Everest or Kailash, admiring amazing landscapes, or visiting a Tibetan family, you will need 6-15 days or even more time. More tour choices are available on our website depends on your vacation.

Generally speaking, the best time to visit Tibet is from April to October. However, it entirely depends on what you want to see and to do. In fact, most tourist spots in Tibet can be visited at any time of the year, such as Lhasa, Everest Base Camp, Shigatse, etc. But a certain time of the year is better than others. For visiting Everest Base Camp, you may go there in April and May, or September and October with a clear sky and awesome visibility for having a better view of the Himalayas, and starry sky. Also, it's the best season to have trekking tours such as Mount Kailash Trekking tours.

You can take direct flights from major cities of mainland China to Lhasa, such as Beijing, Shanghai, Xi'an, Guangzhou, Chengdu, or Kunming. You can also choose to take a train to Tibet. The top five cities to take a train to Tibet is Xining, Beijing, Chengdu, Xi’an, and Shanghai.

  • During the peak tourist season (July-September), please confirm your booking even further in advance due to the high demands of hotels, vehicles, tickets, tour guides, and so on. .
