Overview
Langtang Trek, as one of Nepal's three major trekking routes, is primarily known for its stunning snow-capped mountain landscapes, offering magnificent views of the Himalayas, including Langtang Lirung (7246 meters), Dorje Lakpa (6966 meters), Gang Cheenpo (6388 meters), and Ganesh Himal (7429 meters). Additionally, it allows trekkers to explore alpine scenery such as meadows, glaciers, rivers, forests, and experience the pastoral beauty of the plateau and the authentic culture of Tibetan villages. You'll also have the opportunity to mingle with the Tamangs in their villages, gaining insights into their unique traditions and culture. Langtang Trek offers a relatively short duration and easy route, but with a rich experience, suitable for all travelers. The best time for this trek is from March to May for rhododendron blossoms and from September to November for favorable weather.

Daily Itinerary
CollapseUpon arrival in Kathmandu, you will be greeted at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu and transferred to the hotel. It’s only 6km from the airport to the downtown area. After a little bit of rest, you can wander around this old city by yourself. The colorful houses, a dazzling array of shops, and the bustling crowds will make you feel the enthusiasm of Kathmandu for the first time. In the evening, you can try the local cuisines.

The real start of your tour of Kathmandu is today. So, this is a big day for you. You'll soon get to discover the unique culture of this lovely city. Kathmandu is the capital and largest city of Nepal. Its most famous destination is, of course, the famous Durbar Square.
Your tour guide will stroll you along with the Kathmandu Durbar Square. This square is replete with amazing ancient palaces and temples. It is a showcase of Nepali architecture and culture. It is situated in front of the old royal palace, surrounded by great architecture that colorfully showcases the craftsmanship of Nepali artists of the past centuries. Here, you will see the palaces of the Shah and Malla Kings.
You'll also get to visit the Pashupatinath Temple, one of Hinduism's holiest places in the world. It is located along the riverbanks of the Bagmati River. This temple complex is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here you will be bewildered by the sprawling collection of ashrams, temples, images, and inscriptions.
Afterward, you can go straight to the Boudhanath Stupa, the world’s largest stupa and a UNESCO Heritage Site. Its massive mandala is very impressive. Then, you will see the Swayambhunath Temple, in the west of Kathmandu City. Its name, of course, means "self-existent. This temple is known for the monkeys that reside in the area. Hence, it is also alternately called the "Monkey Temple." The monkeys in this temple are playful and known for their notoriety; so be very careful in dealing with them.

After breakfast, drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi, a journey of approximately 7 hours along winding mountain roads. If the weather is clear, you may catch a glimpse of the Lirung Mountains along the way. In the afternoon, you will arrive at Syabrubesi, the starting point of the Langtang trek. You can stroll around here and feel the simple folk customs.

Leaving Syabru Besi marks the enchanting beginning of your trekking adventure. Venture along mountainous trails, and you’ll walk through thick forests, accompanied by the meandering Langtang Khole River. You can stop at Bamboo for a rest and lunch. The scenery is made up of suspension bridges, waterfalls, villages, boulders, forests, and views of Ganesh Himal in the distance. The rich diversity of flora and fauna also adds to the fun of the journey. After approximately 6-7 hours of trekking, we reach Changtang, also known as Lama Hotel.

Continue along the path along the Langtang Khola River and climb through the steep hillsides, we will pass through the forest to the meadows where cattle and ibex can be seen. The hiking trail then slowly ascends in a U-bend through the glacial canyon, passing several small villages before reaching Langtang Village, where the National Park's headquarters is located. Langtang and its surrounding villages are Tibetan-style, with stone walls surrounding fields and yaks. The entire hike takes approximately 5-6 hours.

Leaving Langtang Village, you will climb the slopes leading to Sindum and Yamphu. Passing through several small villages on the way, you will reach Kyanjin Gompa before noon. There are also several inns and many interesting trekking routes starting from the monastery. In the afternoon, you can sunbathe on the rooftop of the inn and enjoy the full view of Langtang Lirung.

Kyanjin Gompa is the furthest stop on the itinerary. It's a great place to admire the snow-capped mountains and feel the humanistic customs of the high-mountain Tibetan villages. Or you can move further there. Usually, there are three options.
Option I - You can climb north to the glacier viewpoint at 4,300 meters, enjoying the panoramic view of Kyanjin Gompa as well as the stunning scenery of Langtang Lirung Mountain.
Option II - The most popular one-day trek is to the Kyanjin Ri viewpoint (4,600m) and back. It's about a 5km hike and takes three hours. Kyanjin Ri is the highest point of the peak, with an altitude of less than 5,000 meters.
Option III - A more difficult option is to climb Tesrgo Ri (4,984m), a famous hiking peak. To climb this peak, you need to carry your own food and water because there are no supply villages outside Kyanjin Gompa. The round trip takes about 7-8 hours.

After breakfast, you start your descent, which is the day to return to Lama Hotel along the same route. Along the way, you might see different views of Langtang Valley and the mountains. After 7 hours of trekking, you can reach our destination today.

Let's enjoy the last day of trekking on this trip. Traveling through the low-altitude forest, and along the river bank. The memories gathered during the trek may make you not want to leave the place. Trek for about 5 hours back to Syabrubesi, where you can choose to take a bath in the hot springs on the river bank.

After breakfast, drive back to Kathmandu from Syabrubesi for seven hours along winding roads with breathtaking views of majestic mountains, waterfalls, paddy fields, and woods. Finally, return to the hotel and spend the afternoon strolling along the streets of Kathmandu.
