the south of Qinghai-Tibet plateau, at a geological location within 26°50”-36° 53” degrees north latitude and 78° 25” -99° 06” degrees east longitude. Covering an area of over 1.2million square kilometres, the autonomous region takes up about one-eighth of China. To the north, it neighbours Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and Qingahi Province; on the east and southeast, it is adjacent to Sichuan and Yunnan provinces; on the south and west it borders Myanmar, India, Sikkim, Bhutan and Nepal, as well as Kashimir on a border line of 4, 000 kilometres stretching from east to west. History of Tibet: Long, long ago, a monkey with magic powers was sent by the goddess of Mercy to practice meditation in

Tibetan Buddhism: Tibet is mysterious of the high plateau with special geography and various kinds of natural sceneries, but
also of the long-history Tibetan buddhism. Buddhism entered Tibet in the 7th century from China's central plain, India and Nepal. Since then, it had been engaged in prolonged and intense fight with the local religion named Bon religion, which formerly ruled Tibet.
